Emerging Europe markets posted modest gains on July 6 with limited data releases. Poland’s iShares ETF rose 1.94% to 39.44, outpacing regional peers as bank and manufacturing names advanced. BIST 100 closed at 14,424.50, up 0.05%.
EUR/PLN edged 0.04% higher to 4.29 while EUR/HUF climbed 0.44% to 353.65 and EUR/CZK eased 0.04% to 24.17. Poland’s 10-year yield increased 2.87% to 5.74% whereas Hungary’s 10-year yield dropped 9.89% to 5.65%. Brent crude gained 0.76% to 72.54 amid steady energy demand.
No major macro prints occurred across the five economies, leaving focus on positioning ahead of the NBP decision. Poland continues to demonstrate resilience in manufacturing, supporting the case for delayed easing by the NBP. Hungary’s sharply lower 10-year yield reflects improved inflation expectations following the MNB’s recent forecast revisions.
Czech and Slovak e-commerce firms signal rising investment appetite, hinting at firmer domestic demand in the coming quarters. Romania maintains steady external balances with no fresh trade surprises. Energy import dependence remains a common vulnerability across the EU members despite stable Brent prices.
Poland’s Monetary Policy Council meets at 05:00 ET on July 8 with consensus pointing to a hold at 3.75%. Markets will scrutinize the post-meeting statement for any shift in forward guidance after recent positive industrial production readings. Turkey releases June industrial production year-over-year at 23:00 ET on July 9, expected to show continued expansion.
No other high-impact releases are scheduled for Czechia, Hungary or Romania. Traders will also monitor EUR/PLN and EUR/HUF flows for any pre-decision volatility.

Romania maintains steady external balances with no fresh trade surprises. Energy import dependence remains a common vulnerability across the EU members despite stable Brent prices. The ECB deposit rate stands at 2.25%, anchoring expectations for gradual convergence among CEE central banks.
Eurozone unemployment at 6.70% supports a soft-landing narrative that benefits Polish and Czech exporters. Global equity sentiment stayed constructive, aiding the 1.94% gain in Poland’s ETF. Gold fell 0.44% to 4,136.70 while Bitcoin declined 1.04% to 62,887.81, reflecting selective risk appetite.
USD/TRY held near 46.82 with only a 0.03% daily rise, indicating contained lira pressure. Broader EM flows remain supportive for CEE assets given the absence of fresh external shocks.

The NBP is expected to keep the policy rate unchanged at 3.75% on July 8, with the committee voted to hold amid improving growth indicators. CNB and MNB continue to track ECB moves closely; both have signaled readiness to adjust if euro-area easing accelerates. Hungary’s MNB has already lowered its 2026 inflation projection, supporting the recent drop in local yields.
BNR maintains a steady hand as Romania’s euro-adoption path stays targeted for 2029 or later, requiring sustained inflation convergence. CBRT operates under distinct political constraints and is likely to remain on hold near 47.5% pending clearer disinflation progress, with FX reserve management still central to policy credibility. Policy divergence persists between the four EU members and Turkey.
