Turkey releases its Business Confidence Index tonight followed by Consumer Confidence tomorrow. Poland publishes its June unemployment rate at 23:30 ET with consensus pointing to a 0.1pp decline to 5.8%.

Turkey's TCMB holds its rate decision on July 23. Sovereign auctions include Polish 10Y bonds and Turkish T-bills later this week. Markets will watch for any signals on euro convergence progress for Romania and Hungary.

Other Economic Notes (continued)

Energy security remains a shared priority as Poland and Romania expand LNG and nuclear ties. Turkey's structurally higher inflation keeps CBRT policy distinct from the rest of the region. Brent crude fell 0.95% to 88.37 while gold rose 1.39% to 4,066, offering a mixed commodity backdrop for regional exporters.

Global Macro News

The ECB holds its deposit rate at 2.25% with Eurozone CPI at 2.80% y/y and unemployment at 6.20%. Stable euro-area conditions support CEE currencies and bond markets through trade linkages. Brent crude fell 0.95% to 88.37 while gold rose 1.39% to 4,066, providing a mixed backdrop for commodity-exposed economies.

Bitcoin gained 1.48% to 65,646 amid broader risk appetite. Poland and Czech Republic benefit most from euro-area demand resilience while Turkey's higher inflation creates policy divergence. EU recovery tranche disbursements to Poland underscore positive fiscal flows into the region.

Emerging Europe Central Banks Watch

The MNB is expected to cut its rate 25bp to 5.75% today, extending its easing cycle as inflation remains subdued. The CNB and NBP continue to monitor ECB signals closely given their export exposure to the euro area. Romania's BNR maintains a steady stance ahead of euro convergence talks and the September report.

Turkey's CBRT faces renewed pressure from June CPI overshoots that exceeded consensus, limiting scope for near-term easing despite political constraints. Policy divergence persists with Hungary and Czech Republic moving faster toward neutral rates than Poland or Romania. FX intervention remains limited across the region as EUR crosses trade in narrow ranges.
