Brent crude dropped sharply by 6.06% to 96.37, pressuring energy importers. Poland published its draft 2027 budget assuming 3% GDP growth without additional pre-election spending measures. Turkey’s final August trade balance and unemployment prints are scheduled for overnight release alongside Poland’s inflation preview.
No macro data emerged from Czech Republic, Hungary or Romania. Hungary’s central-bank deputy governor reiterated support for euro accession to strengthen policy credibility.
Overnight releases dominate the calendar for 30 September. Poland’s September inflation rate YoY preliminary carries a consensus of 3.6%, up from 3.4% prior, and will shape NBP policy expectations. Turkey reports final August trade balance, expected at –5.24 bn USD versus –7.34 bn prior, and headline unemployment rate.
No central-bank meetings, EU summits or sovereign debt auctions are scheduled for 30 September or 1 October. Markets will monitor whether the Polish print alters rate-cut timing relative to the ECB’s 2.50% deposit rate. Turkey’s data will feed directly into CBRT inflation monitoring.
Energy import dependence remains a shared vulnerability for the four EU members, with Brent’s 6% drop offering temporary relief to current-account balances.
Poland’s 2027 budget framework signals fiscal restraint ahead of elections, supporting convergence toward euro-area criteria. Regional equities showed limited spillover from US developments, underscoring domestic drivers. Turkey continues to operate under distinct macro dynamics with structurally higher inflation than its EU peers.
Hungary’s central-bank deputy governor publicly backed euro adoption to anchor long-term policy credibility. The CNB and MNB remain the most responsive to ECB signals given their open economies and inflation-targeting frameworks. Romania’s BNR continues to monitor convergence criteria without immediate rate pressure.

The US economy remains strikingly resilient according to Fed Governor Barr, who defended the last rate hike. Treasury yields surged on the back of robust growth data, widening the rate differential versus Emerging Europe. Eurozone CPI stood at 3.20% YoY in August with unemployment at 6.40% in July, keeping the ECB deposit rate at 2.50%.
Brent’s sharp decline may ease imported inflation pressures for Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Romania. Gold advanced 0.77% to 4,212 while Bitcoin eased 0.35%, reflecting mixed risk sentiment. Stronger US data could delay ECB easing and limit scope for CNB and MNB cuts.
Emerging Europe currencies showed modest moves against the euro amid the global backdrop.
Poland’s overnight inflation preview will guide NBP expectations relative to the ECB’s 2.50% deposit rate. Policy divergence persists as the four EU central banks align more closely with euro-area conditions while CBRT follows a separate path. The committee voted to hold in recent decisions at the CNB and MNB.
Turkey’s CBRT operates under unique political constraints, with the trade balance and unemployment prints providing fresh inputs for inflation targeting. No vote splits were disclosed in recent decisions.
