Chalmers lowers expectations for fuel discounts after high inflation result

Treasurer Jim Chalmers has tempered expectations for further fuel discount relief after another elevated inflation reading, with markets increasingly anticipating a rate hike at next Tuesday's central bank meeting.

He urged "perspective" on the inflation figures, attributing much of the pressure to external factors beyond domestic policy control.
